We are looking for a dynamic, energetic intern who is eager to learn about our company by assisting various departments. You will be working closely with our team to conduct research, capture data, and attend meetings where you will be asked to take minutes.

To be successful as an Intern, you should be willing to help with any tasks assigned by a supervisor. You will be involved in upcoming projects as well as assisting with current campaigns.

Intern Responsibilities:
  • Fulfill tasks set out by supervisors from several departments.
  • Attend meetings and take minutes.
  • Perform research at a supervisor's request.
  • Update social media platforms and write copy for posts.
  • Create images for social media posts.
Intern Requirements:
  • A college student or recent graduate.
  • Eager to learn and work with various departments in the company.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Cope well under pressure.

Mission Statement

MMIW NC Coalition's mission is to build a strong foundation for healing, justice, and reconciliation for the governments (local and state), institutions, and community in order to help society's attitudes and understanding of the issue (MMIW, 2018). MMIW NC vision is to provide united tribal leadership in this work by lifting up the collective voices of grassroots advocates in tribal communities. MMIW NC is to bring our missing home and help the families of the murdered understand and cope through the process of grief.

Description

The first goal of MMIW NC is to provide education against sexual violence to American Indian (AI) women and girls.

The second goal is teaching self-defense to women and girls in the community. Although self-defense classes are increasingly popular, especially those focused on empowering survivors, it is sometimes still met with skepticism and resistance for a variety of reasons
