This is an opportunity to help young students become better readers! Partners in Education is seeking virtual volunteers for our Mentors in Toledo Schools program. You will work one on one with 1 st and 2 nd grade students at Longfellow Elementary who are struggling with Reading and Writing. All the activities and materials will be provided to you by our site coordinator through the student’s teacher, so there is no preparation on the part of the volunteer or prior knowledge of curriculum needed to tutor a student. All we ask is you bring a willing heart and a passion for literacy - and a computer with an internet connection. Tutor from home, work or wherever you happen to be.

We are looking for volunteers who are available on Monday and Tuesday between 9:30-10:30. All sessions will be remote via Google Meets.

We would love to have volunteers commit to a half hour or hour on the same day each week to provide a consistent and caring adult for one student, but scheduling is flexible. And if you have availability to tutor more days or for longer periods, that would be much appreciated.
Our tutoring program will run through May. All ages 18 and up may apply. Two hours of online training and a background check is required. The background can be completed online. Partners in Education covers the cost of training and background checks.
