Mission Statement
PROTECTING FLORIDA HORSES FROM THEFT AND SLAUGHTER: Our Non-Profit 501 (c) 3 organization is dedicated to the investigation, mitigation, prevention and education surrounding horse theft, slaughter, and illegal kill farms. We’re here to advance the safety, security, and soundness of our farmers, ranchers, horse owners, and all other professionals in the horse industry. KFHS, Inc., also works together to help educate horse owners on how they can protect their properties and horses. We aim to foster a level of trust and compassion between horse owners, law enforcement, government agencies and the public.
Description
Keeping Florida Horses Safe, Inc., was founded in January 2020 after 3 horses were stolen and slaughtered in Central Florida in November and December of 2019, and a 4th in SW Florida in February, 2020. Our goals are not only to provide a central place for Florida horse owners to share information about suspicious activity, stolen/missing horses, and the horrific crime of illegal horse slaughter, but also, to encourage the horse community if they "See something-Say something" by always sharing this information with Law Enforcement in an attempt to assist them in apprehending and convicting these criminals to the highest extent of the law. We educate horse owners and the equine community through webinars on how to protect their properties and horses, how to report Suspicious Activity to LE (SAR), and advocacy.
