American Foundation for Suicude Prevention- West Virginia Chapter


Join the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention in WV's only Hike for Hope at Cooper's Rock State Forest this Spring and play a role in making Suicide Prevention a priority around our State!

This event is a one day hiking event with opening ceremonies, the hike and then closing ceremony. You and/or your organization can help get involved by:

  • Register you and/or your team to be part of the event at afsp.org/wvhikeforhope and hike with us!
  • Being part of our street team and help spread the word about this event
  • Help with getting event needs donated; water, snacks, swag bag goodies
  • Day of event help with set up, event participation, and tear down (all day of volunteers get a volunteer T-Shirt
  • Follow up with attendees by phone or hand- written note

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is the leading national not-for-profit organization exclusively dedicated to understanding and preventing suicide through research, education and advocacy, and to reaching out to people with mental disorders and those impacted by suicide.


Established in 1987, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is a voluntary health organization that gives those affected by suicide a nationwide community empowered by research, education and advocacy to take action against this leading cause of death.

AFSP is dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide. AFSP creates a culture that’s smart about mental health by engaging in the following core strategies: Education, Research, Support and Advocacy for better mental health in our community.
