CREATE SPRING CARDS FOR SENIORS

Importance: Help put a smile on your neighbors face this holiday season! Most of our guests are sheltered in isolation; many are seniors who are used to having active social lives or are coming from communal settings. With the heightened need to stay inside, often without the comforts or TV or computers, the people we serve are at high-risk for isolation and depression.

Description: Brighten someone's day by creating and mailing in cards welcoming spring that are filled with words of encouragement for homeless and formerly homeless people who have been sheltered in place for months. Guests love cards that are created from hand, but if you're not the artistic type, feel free to buy cards and simply fill them out. These should not be Easter cards, but rather, general spring cards.

The cards should not be addressed to anyone, but you are free to sign your own name, if you'd like. If you would like to include envelopes, please leave them unsealed.

Reporting Requirements: Please mail the cards in no later than 4/15 and email the Volunteer and Events Coordinator when they are in the mail. If you spend longer than two hours creating these cards, please let us know.

Needed Skills and Materials:

• Access to a computer and printer or the ability to create the cards from hand
• The ability to mail or drop off the cards to our headquarters in San Francisco
