PRAM (Parents, Resources and More) is a volunteer-run organization of parents and caregivers in Richmond. The PRAM board is a small, friendly group of parents who work together to create opportunities for children and families in Richmond to play and learn in a safe, enriching environment that is welcoming to everyone. PRAM board service is a great resume-builder, and a fun, low commitment way to give back to the Richmond community.

A variety of roles are available, and can be adapted to your skills and interests:

  • Membership Coordinator: You help our community thrive and grow. Help us welcome families with new babies, and families new to Richmond! Involves reaching out to new members, designing and distributing new family welcome packages, coordinating volunteer projects, and creating a sense of community among our ~50 member families.
  • Fieldhouse Coordinator: You rule the fieldhouse. PRAM has an amazing space with a kitchen, toys and games, a quiet study room, and an enclosed playground, kitchen garden and field among beautiful redwood trees. Involves refreshing toy and art supply inventory, coordinating rentals, facilities, maintenance, etc.
  • Fundraiser: You play a crucial role in expanding what PRAM can do for our community by researching and writing grants for scholarships, equipment, programs, etc.
  • Programmer: You set the social calendar for learning and fun. Dream up ideas for classes and events, find instructors and entertainers, handle enrollment and RSVP's, design and coordinate parties that bring our members together.
  • Communications: You keep our community connected. Edit our e-newsletter, run social media, manage our lovely squarespace website, design fliers to get the word out about what PRAM offers.
  • Community Liaison: You are the lifeline to underserved areas of the City of Richmond. Help us identify and reach out to organizations who are doing amazing work with youth and families in other parts of Richmond for potential partnerships, and help spread PRAM's resources to the wider community.
  • President: You represent PRAM. Recruit board members, coordinate meetings, help the board as needed, and set the agenda for what PRAM is and where it's going.

About PRAM PARENTS RESOURCES AND MORE

Mission Statement

Parents, Resources & More (PRAM) is a community-driven non-profit organization formed in 1998 to support families with young children (ages 0 to 12 years old) living in the Greater Richmond area. Our intent is to create a vibrant, engaged community of healthy, happy, well-informed parents and children. We strive to be inclusive and creative in all that we do.

Description

Raising children in the Bay Area can be challenging. PRAM’s goal is to serve as a space where families can escape the pressures and stresses of our hectic routines and just be with each other, connecting to our incredible community and introducing our children to our neighbors and future playmates

PRAM playgroups, classes and gatherings provide opportunities for learning, playing and socializing for PRAM kids and their grown-ups.

Holidays are a great excuse for us to gather at PRAM, share food and take lots of silly photos. PRAM hosts events for Valentine’s Day, Halloween, and the Holidays. We even make up our own holiday to celebrate the bounty of the PRAM Garden. We also organize monthly Parents Nights Out.

Membership dues keep the lights on, but parent participation is what makes PRAM so much fun. We want every member of PRAM to feel a sense of ownership over our space and contribute a few watts of energy to help PRAM thrive.
