Due to the physical and emotional impact that the Covid-19 pandemic has had on our seociety, we are launching a campaign to save our aged out foster care youth. Approximately 20,000 youth age-out each year without positive familial supports or any family connection. * Within 18 months of emancipation 40-50% of foster youth become homeless.
* A history of foster care correlates with becoming homeless at an earlier age and remaining homeless for a longer period of time.
* 65% of youth leaving foster care need immediate housing upon discharge.
* The National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty estimates that 5,000 unaccompanied youth die each year as a result of assault, illness, or suicide.
Our goal is to address this by providing permanent vocational training and real work experience.
The program will offer health screen which will include Covid-19 testing along with a mental health assessment.
The volunteer team will be asked to take part in a capitol campaign to raids funds to secure a facility for shelter, treatment and training. We are looking for volunteers who are looking to donate a little of their time by reaching out to social media, grant writing and organizing a virtual fundraising event.
