Use your marketing and writing skills to make a difference!
HCHC is looking for a volunteer writer to work remotely with our Director of Development on various communication and marketing materials.
Duties are as follows:
- Under the direction of HCHC’s Director of Resident Services, interview residents (on the phone or in-person in a socially-distanced manner and with masks, depending on your preference) and develop success stories while respecting the privacy of residents
- Take resident pictures as needed (or when it's possible) to complement stories
- Develop articles for HCHC’s online newsletters, email blasts and annual reports
- Assist with other tasks -including social media- as needed
- Attend HCHC’s events (fundraisers, grand opening and groundbreaking ceremonies, Books Backpacks and Bright Futures events for young residents etc.) either remotely or in-person in the near future (when it is safe to do so) to develop relevant stories
- Create press releases and submit them to local media
The volunteer will be compensated for gas and other expenses.

Description
Hollywood Community Housing Corporation (HCHC) is a community based non-profit public benefit corporation committed to preserving and expanding the supply of affordable housing for lower income households in Los Angeles. In addition to providing critically-needed housing, HCHC provides residents with life changing supportive services including an emergency food bank, GED/ESL/life skills classes for adults, educational enrichment programs and after school tutoring for school- aged residents, crisis interventions, and social service referrals.
