Latino Community Center

  • 21 people are interested

The Latino Community Center has been working hard to ensure that our students have access to the help they need to succeed academically. Our Online Tutoring Program helps match students in grades K through college with available tutors depending on need, language, availability, and specific skills. Tutors are matched on a need by need basis with students who need their support. Hours are flexible and schedules are set by tutor and student. This opportunity is on going and requires that volunteers over the age of 18 present the PA Criminal Background Check, the PA Child Abuse Clearance, and the FBI Fingerprint Clearance. Tutors bilingual in English and Spanish are encouraged to volunteer, but we accept non-Spanish speaking volunteers as well. No experience required, only the desire to help kids during this complicated time.

The Latino Community Center is a small, but growing, nonprofit organization that was established as a 501(c)3 in April of 2017. Programming at the LCC includes bilingual after school programs, high school college and career readiness programs, a Welcome Hub for newcomers, community engagement events, connection to local resources, a "free store" located within the LCC, and more. The Latino Community Center, through all that it does, strives to ensure that all Latinos in Allegheny County are valued and have equal and equitable access.
