Position Summary: A Board Member abides by and actively supports the vision, mission and values of Safe Place. Safe Place Board Members serve for a period of two years and report to the Board Chair. A Board Member works with volunteers, current and potential partners, and key stakeholders to promote the mission.
Serve in a 2-year term as a Board Member, abiding by the established Board of Directors Bylaws.
Act as an ambassador for Safe Place for Pets in the community and help spread the mission of the organization.
Leverage networking opportunities shamelessly to develop resources & relationships for the organization, including in-kind resources.
Support the organization’s Executive Director in their efforts to run Safe Place operations.
Contribute to the overall mission, success, and reach of Safe Place for Pets.
Attend all board meetings (held bi-monthly) and actively participate in all governance decisions and votes.
Hold a significant role in the organization such as a committee chair, committee member, coordinator, Board officer, or other role approved by the Board.
Stay informed and responsible for all Board information, especially liability and financial issues.
Gift financially to the annual campaign.
Participate in fundraising and community outreach events as needed.
Maintain all respective records and files within Google Drive that are necessary for the role.
Report volunteer hours to the Volunteer Coordinator each month.
Attend the Annual Strategic Planning Meeting and Volunteer Appreciation event.

Safe Place was incorporated in 1996 and serves people and the pets in El Paso and Teller counties. We strive to provide comfort to families. Our unique expertise is a vital tool in assuring that a beloved pet will continue to be safe and loved, even beyond the owner's life. To some it is what matters most.
