Position Title: Board Member

Position Summary: A Board Member abides by and actively supports the vision, mission, and values of Safe Place. Safe Place Board Members serve for a period of two years and report to the Board Chair. A Board Member works with volunteers, current and potential partners, and key stakeholders to promote the mission. This is a working board and board members are expected to roll up their sleeves as necessary.

Tasks Include:

• Serve in a 2-year term as a Board Member, abiding by the established Board of Directors Bylaws.
• Act as an ambassador for Safe Place for Pets in the community and help spread the mission of the organization.
• Leverage networking opportunities shamelessly to develop resources & relationships for the organization, including in-kind resources.
• Support the organization’s paid staff in their efforts to run Safe Place operations.
• Contribute to the overall mission, success, and reach of Safe Place for Pets.
• Attend all board meetings and actively participate in all governance decisions and votes.
• Hold a significant role in the organization such as a committee chair, committee member, coordinator, Board officer, or other role approved by the Board.
• Stay informed and responsible for all Board information, especially liability and financial issues.
• Gift financially to the annual campaign.
• Participate in fundraising and community outreach events as needed.
• Maintain all respective records and files within Google Drive necessary for the role.
• Report volunteer hours to the Volunteer Coordinator each month.
• Attend the Annual Strategic Planning Meeting and Volunteer Appreciation event.
