Bcauseican Inc is looking for a volunteer in the DMV area to help us with our English Language Learner program. Our ideal candidate speaks excellent English and is fluent in either Spanish or French.

There is a great need to help students whose first language is not English, especially as they try to learn from home. How can a student succeed virtually when they struggle with reading and communicating in English?
BCAUSICAN offers an English Language Learner's Club and a Bilingual Parent Technology Workshop.
Our parent technology workshop helps parents understand basic computer literacy in order to help their children with online learning. This workshop helps teach them how to use zoom, uploading and editing documents, and other tasks that are necessary in day to day online learning.
Our ESOL club is way for students to practice their English and get extra help from a teacher and mentor who speaks their language. The club will focus on homework, mentorship, and being in a welcoming space with others they can connect with.
The program manager role will work closely with our CEO and our bilingual instructors to create the curriculum for the ESOL club and ensure the classes run smoothly. Eventually, this position will be responsible for liaising with the schools we serve to schedule classes and ensure smooth implementation of the clubs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a positive and nurturing emotional environment.
  • Help students with topics they are learning in school.
  • Develop caring relationships with the students.
  • Provide additional help to students completing their homework.

Qualifications

  • Experience with school age children.
  • Ability to remain patient and positive with students.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in at least two languages. Spanish preferred.
  • Able to commit to at least six months volunteering, preferably longer.

Classes will be starting in mid June. We are hoping to onboard someone who is ready to hit the ground running with training and support from our CEO and bilingual team. This position has the potential to become a part time paid position in the future, based on performance and work load.
