North Lawndale non-profit near Kedzie pink line stop looking for committed volunteers to help with spring/summer/fall programming. Peace Parks from vacant lots honoring black heroes, Social Justice Program, Conflict Resolution & De-escalation Training, Fashion Show, Summer Art Show for volunteers, Cleaning the Environment, August Youth Art Fest, September Art Walk on Kedzie, and more!
Youth & adults interested should send name/address/phone #/email to contact@urbanartretreat.com RSVP Attend Orientation on a Saturday of your choosing from noon-1p.m. wearing mask. Location- 1957 S. Spaulding at 21st.

Mission Statement
Chicago URBAN ART RETREAT Center (CUARC) provides rooms for women. CUARC also provides safe space for people who are different from each other to enjoy & learn from each other. CUARC celebrates multiculturalism, diversity, and non-violence. We provide opportunities for people to learn about and practice peace. We encourage our volunteers to learn about social justice issues and the isms to spread this information to others.
Description
In addition to a women's residence on the second floor, we offer an art gallery for under-represented artists, and art studio for non-artists. CUARC offers a variety of programs geared to the under represented and to educate the public about under represented populations. At our own site and at sites of other non-profits, CUARC programs include: art workshops & classes for non-artists, support & education for entrepreneurs, art shows by under represented people (people with mental illnesses, people of color, non-artists, survivors of trauma, immigrants, lesbians, gays, & seniors). Social opps. for people who are different from each other to attend, enjoy each other, and learn from each other are offered monthly. Non-violence and tolerance is encouraged at all activities.
