Join us for a week of exciting and educational events showcasing the artists, designers, musicians, filmmakers, authors, fashion and beauty changemakers who are lighting up our screens and airwaves to shift our consciousness and conversations for good.
The Piedmont Triad Regional Council Area Agency on Aging is offering several evidence-based classes for older adults in a virtual format. Virtual classes provide a safe alternative during the COVID-19 pandemic and are accessible to individuals who may difficulties with travel. Classes offered include: Living Healthy with Chronic Conditions(Online sessions) , Living Healthy with Chronic Conditions (Telephone sessions), A Matter of Balance (Falls Prevention-Online), Diabetes Self-Management Program(Online) and others.
Volunteers must complete training and agree to teach 2 classes within a year. Virtual class offerings extend to 12 counties: Alamance Caswell, Davidson, Davie, Forsyth, Guilford, Montgomery, Randolph, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, and Yadkin. Volunteers are partnered with a seasoned facilitator and receive ongoing support and coaching. A small stipend is provided.

The Piedmont Triad Regional Council (PTRC) is a voluntary association of local governments - urban and rural - authorized by state law to: * Make and implement joint regional decisions; * Provide management, planning and technical services to local governments; * Identify and solve short and long-term problems best addressed at the regional level; * Bring together local elected officials on a regular basis, giving them an opportunity to form working relationships: * Promote regional issues and cooperation among members.

Orientation or Training
Online classes meet for 2 and 1 / 2 hour sessions once a week for 6 weeks. Telephone classes meet for one hour sessions, once a week for 6 weeks.
Volunteers should enjoy interacting with older adults. Volunteers must have computer and internet capacity with a webcam in order to lead online classes. All volunteers must have an email address.
