Ten Thousand Villages South Bay is seeking a someone with a passion to help a social justice-oriented, non-profit organization. Ten Thousand Villages South Bay runs a retail storefront that helps artisans around the world in 30 developing countries break out of the cycle of generational poverty through strict adherence to Fairtrade principles. An ideal candidate will have an interest in issues facing developing countries and a desire to hone existing skills while working with an existing ethical- at-every-step 501(c)3. The candidate will work closely with, and be supervised by, industry professionals with extensive experience in running and managing a retail location.
From day one as the offsite sales coordinator with Ten Thousand Villages South Bay, you will learn what it takes to run a successful business and acquire highly marketable skills in management. We have a team-based environment; all our staff, except for management, are volunteers who will be by your side helping you learn, grow, and have fun.
When you join our organization, you will soon discover that every day is different because it is filled with new, exciting, rewarding and often unexpected opportunities. We will put you in the middle of everything, and you will work side by side with the store manager. We will give you the chance to develop the skills you need to manage a small business, take care of customers, develop marketing strategies, and build relationships with customers and coworkers. You will also have the chance to implement the skills you have learn by running our offsite kiosk.

The company strives to improve the livelihood of tens of thousands of disadvantaged artisans in 38 countries. Ten Thousand Villages accomplishes this by establishing a sustainable market for handmade products in North America, and building long term buying relationships in places where skilled artisan partners lack opportunities for stable income. Product sales help pay for food, education, healthcare and housing for artisans who would otherwise be unemployed or underemployed.
