Are you a great listener? Do you enjoy learning about other individuals' experiences and stories? Literacy Minnesota is looking a volunteer to listen to and support learners who are practicing conversational English in a relaxed setting. This conversation group consists of a small group of beginning English learners who are eager to use the English they learn in class to build their confidence in speaking and understanding. The focus of the group will not be on teaching new content, but on facilitating students’ own speaking and listening as much as possible. We are seeking a volunteer who would feel comfortable working independently with students after a training and observation period, with ongoing planning and coaching support from a professional ESL teacher with years of experience working with beginning English learners.
Details:
- Volunteer from 1:00-2:00 PM CST on Fridays on Zoom.
- No experience or diploma needed - we’ll provide all necessary training
- Must be 18 years old to volunteer
- You will need a computer/tablet with a webcam and reliable internet service
We strongly encourage volunteers who are people of color, indigenous, immigrants and refugees, LGBTQIA2S+ and people with disabilities.
