COVID-19 has impacted a lot of lives in 2020. More and more children are facing food insecurity. Through our organization's partnership with Youth Service America and Sodexo, Family Development and Samaritan Foundation is hosting a food drive, Feeding the Hearts Program. This program will help provide food to children who are malnourished and are facing food hardship - especially those gravely impacted by COVID-19.
We are looking for volunteers who want to help make other children's live healthier lives and reduce childhood hunger. These volunteers will also be participating in the Global Youth Service Day event where we will host the food drive on Sunday April 25, 2021.
Volunteers will help us promote the event, help to find a location in the DMV (Upper Marlboro/Bowie area), help us reach out to stores and obtain donations. We are looking for those who are willing to go above and beyond. This opportunity is a great resume builder and volunteers will receive a written recommendation from our president for their work. Must be trustworthy because of confidential information. Proficient in Word, Google Docs, and Microsoft Teams. Must be comfortable with deadlines and have a reliable working computer or laptop. Must be able to commit to trainings and that are scheduled in advance and flexible around your time.
It's not mandatory, but we would love for volunteers to be available April 25th, 2021 to participate in the food drive. We will follow COVID-19 health guidelines and make safety a priority.
