COALITION OF VETERANS ORGANIZATIONS
DURING THE AFGHAN AND IRAQ WARS WHEN CASUALTIES WERE MOUNTING, SOME LABOR UNIONS AND CONTRACTORS OFFERED TO FURNISH FREE OR DISCOUNTED SERVICES FOR FAMILIES OF SERVICE MEMBERS DEPLOYED IN THE BATTLE ZONES OR JUST AWAY FROM HOME.
THAT WAS A NOBLE GESTURE THAT WAS ON THEIR PART AND MUCH APPRECIATED BY ALL CONCERNED.UNIONS AND CONTRACTORS BOTH AGREED THEY DERIVED MORE BENEFIT FROM HELPING THESE FAMILIES THAN THE FAMILIES DERIVED THEMSELVES.
PRIMARY EMERGENCIES COVERED WERE SUCH THINGS AS HEAT AND AIR CONDITIONING FAILURE AND WATER AND PLUMBING ISSUES -MATTERS THAT MUST BE DEALT WITH PROMPTLY.
IF YOU ARE A UNION MEMBER, SELF EMPLOYED, A CONTRACTING FIRM, PLUMBER OR ELECTRICIAN, MAYBE YOU CAN COME UP WITH A PLAN TO ASSIST VETERANS, OFTEN DISABLED, OR THEIR FAMILIES TAKING CARE OF THEM, THAT YOU ARE AVAILABLE TO GUIDE THEM THROUGH SUCH CRISES EVEN IF YOU CANNOT GUARANTEE THERE WILL BE LITTLE OR NO COSTS INVOLVED?
