Time Requirement: 2 hours per week, total 8 hours/month, for at minimum 1 program/school year


Purpose: To empower youth in grades K-12 through our Learn and Dream tutoring and mentoring programs with the skills necessary to achieve success in school and life. This is done by setting and working towards goals that include, but are not limited to academic, social-emotional, and college and career milestones. In addition, volunteers support their mentee/tutee’s literacy and mathematics development, cultivate spaces for positive inter- and intrapersonal advancement, and build upon current passions through exposure to and enriching activities.


Duties:

  • Assist in your mentee’s development of academic, social-emotional, and college and career goals at the beginning of each weekly session and then work with your mentee/tutee towards achieving those goals
  • Attend regularly and participate in weekly in-person programming facilitated by Seeds 4 Success staff
  • Provide encouragement, guidance, and emotional support to your mentee/tutee
  • Strive to achieve the appropriate volunteer goals set forth by each Program - Learn and Dream
  • Participate in check-ins with S4S Volunteer Coordinator
  • Attend mandatory trainings throughout the year, including trainings meant to assist in providing support with your tutee reaching their academic and social-emotional goals
  • Adhere to all S4S policies and procedures as set forth in the Volunteer Manual

Qualifications:

  • Desire to work with children and make a positive impact in their lives
  • Can regularly attend evening program sessions
  • Demonstrates care, empathy, patience, inclusiveness, cultural sensitivity and flexibility to maintain a relationship with your mentee/tutee
  • 21 years old or older and meets the following criteria:
    • Complete a criminal background check to be reviewed by S4S staff to determine volunteer eligibility
    • Provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination
