We need volunteers to help feed our horses, walk beside riders with disabilities during camp, groom, tack, or lead horses routinely. We also need volunteers to help keep the tack room/barn clean, for grounds maintenance and office work. We are also looking for a volunteer activities director. About CAMP LIBERTY INC

Location:

20618 N County Hwy 34, Marietta, IL 61459, US

Mission Statement

Empowering military veterans through faith, recreational horseback riding and other outdoor therapy activities by focusing on one’s ability rather than disability.

Description

Camp Liberty is dedicated to the memory of it's founder and Executive Director's son-in-law SPC Kyle Thomas Yerian who lost his battle with combat related PTSD within months of returning home to Fort Bliss Texas from a deployment to Afghanistan in March of 2018.

By April of 2018, the vision of establishing a charitable military veteran organization soon became a mission to help put a stop to what is a national crisis of veteran suicide. With more than 6,000 military veterans taking their own lives each year there was no other issue or fight more urgent than this to take up and address.

Our goals are to provide veterans with the tools and resources necessary for reintegration back into the community. More importantly, reintegration back with their families, their children and friends. To give them some kind of stability and a reason to keep going.

Together with our horseback riding program we offer free counseling with an onsite licensed clinical professional counselor, peer support and bible study.
