Event Details
Name of event: Des Moines St. Paddy’s 5K, Half Marathon & Marathon

Times: 7AM (this could be pushed back slightly based on the water station a volunteer is stationed at) - 12:30PM/1PM
Activity: Helping to restock tables of water bottles for runners to grab as they run past. Volunteers do not need to interact with participants as they will be placing water bottles on the table for runners to grab themselves. Swag: Volunteers will get a free event shirt for volunteering!
BONUS: We would like to donate $50 to The ALS Association for every volunteer that shows up
Number of Volunteers Needed: We would love to have 6-10 volunteers for this race, but anyone that can come out is appreciated.

Mission Statement
Leading the fight to treat and cure ALS through global research and nationwide advocacy while also empowering people with Lou Gehrig’s Disease and their families to live fuller lives by providing them with compassionate care and support.
Description
The ALS Association is the only not-for-profit health organization in Iowa dedicated solely to the fight against ALS. As the preeminent ALS organization, The Association leads the way in research, patient and community services, public education, and advocacy - giving help and hope to those facing the disease.
The ALS Association, Iowa provides direct services, resources and support to Iowans affected by ALS through our care services and programs. The core Chapter services include:
Home Visits
Equipment Loan Program
Quality of Life Grant Program
Patient and Family Support Groups
ALS Specific Clinics
Care Specific Advocacy
Volunteer Program
Communication and Assistive Device Program
Information and Referral Services
Community/Healthcare Education
Over 85% of the money raised through The ALS Association, Iowa stays local to provide services to Iowans impacted by ALS. We also support global, cutting-edge ALS research and participate in state and federal advocacy efforts to find additional treatments and a cure. There are approximately 250 Iowans living with ALS at any given time and our organization has grown from providing services to a handful of patients with ALS in the Des Moines area in 2003 to serving 220+ patients statewide in 2015.
