ORGANIZATION: Stream Link Education

  • 14 people are interested

Each year Stream-Link Education plants over 15 acres of forests in Frederick County.

For the first time, we're calling for volunteers to get involved at each stage of the reforestation process - from start to finish - growing the trees, planting the trees, and maintaining the trees, with a high 85% survival rate!

Volunteer with others to grow native plants at outdoor nurseries or get out in the field to help maintain newly planted tree sites. Each opportunity is on-going, educational, and hands-on.

About Stream Link Education

Location:

PO Box 340, FREDERICK, MD 21701, US

Mission Statement

Connecting community to conservation.

Description

Stream Link Education organizes and leads tree plantings with local community members, organizations and businesses. With the help of volunteers, we plant native trees and shrubs in the area called the riparian zone, which is the land that extends from the banks of a stream. Planting trees next to streams creates a Forest Buffer that not only removes carbon out of the air like other forests, but it soaks up stormwater, chemicals, excess nutrients, sediments, and more before they enter into our streams, rivers, and ultimately end up in the Chesapeake Bay.
