Volunteer Role & Responsibilities:
We’re seeking volunteers with either paid or volunteer experience in photography to take compelling photographs of cats, kittens, staff, and volunteers with their professional camera and lighting equipment. An understanding of professional photography techniques is required.
Duties include:
● taking photographs and videos of cats, kittens, staff, and volunteers
● editing and uploading photos to shared cloud-based drive
● communicating with staff and volunteers
● coordinating onsite visits
● working with and around staff
● handling cats and kittens
● being around sick or injured cats
● wearing PPE when required. Ideal skills include photography, lighting, cat and kitten handling; use of cloud based software including G-Suite; ability to edit and upload pictures to shared files; strong verbal skills; organization; professionalism; customer focus.
Requirements: The position will be onsite to take photographs including the possible need to be at Perry’s Place with short notice on occasion when cats and kittens first arrive; the use of a personal laptop computer, mobile device, and internet connection; position works directly with the social media intern and finance & development coordinator. Each position requires an understanding of the work of Heaven on Earth, including our programs, mission, and history. While each opportunity requires unique skills or experience, all roles necessitate a consistent time commitment and an openness to receive feedback. Please note that as the needs of the organization grow, the positions may also evolve.
Time Commitment: All positions are based at Perry’s Place, will be approximately 8-10 hours per week, and report to the lifesaving programs manager.
Duties can be performed remotely as noted. All current and future COVID-19 protocols will be observed including requiring face coverings, social distancing, hand washing onsite, and abiding by stay at home orders if/when required. We’d love to have your help!

  • Serving meals and preparing emergency food provisions for over 425,000 homeless and low-income individuals;
  • Providing educational and enrichment activities for over 65,000 disadvantaged youth;
  • Revitalizing schools, parks, and community centers for more than 200,000 volunteer hours;
  • Offering companionship to seniors and friendship to abused and homeless women for more than 20,000 volunteer hours;
  • Conserving, cleaning, and restoring urban and natural environments in and around Los Angeles for more than 75,000 volunteer hours;
  • Caring for animals in shelters and sanctuaries at over 1,200 volunteer projects; and
  • Training more than 900 Angelenos in the project and volunteer management.
