Join Parks staff as we enhance a section of the Neuse River Trail in Raleigh with new plant material.

Duties:
Volunteers will help dig holes and install new trees in designated locations.

Impact:
We will be helping to increase the native tree population in the area, and this will provide a healthy habitat for native wildlife.

Work Environment:
We will be working outside in the elements. There is the possibility for uneven ground. Volunteers will need to walk up to a mile. There will not be a restroom on site.

Volunteer Requirements:
Pre-registration is required. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old to volunteer. Everyone who volunteers must sign a release form. If anyone is under the age of 18, then a parent/guardian must sign their form as well.

Other Instructions:
Please bring a water bottle, wear sturdy, close-toed shoes and clothing that can get dirty. We will supply tools, gloves, a first-aid kit, sunscreen, and bug spray.

COVID-19 Policy:
Volunteers and staff must follow the COVID-19 policies below so that projects are safe for everyone.

  • Everyone must wear a face mask or face shield through the project (not provided)
  • Social distancing must be practiced (6-feet between individuals)
  • Individuals must participate in infrared temperature checks upon arrival
  • State, federal, and local mandates must be followed
  • If you have been out of state two weeks prior to the event, please do not register

Group Registration Information:
Registration as a volunteer is first come, first served. A group leader must email rachel.vannoordt@raleighnc.gov to register. All groups will be required to provide a list of names and emails for their volunteers.

Per department policy, this volunteer opportunity is not to be used towards court-appointed/ suggested community service hours.

There are many opportunities for individuals, groups, students and businesses to contribute to our quality programs and facilities. Volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
