During these uncertain times, how can we help?
See below to access our COVID-19 Resource Hub, and to explore our growing directory of COVID-19-specific and virtual volunteering opportunities.
Stroke recovery usually happens in a hospital or at a rehabilitation clinic - but the COVID-19 pandemic has put a stop to make stroke survivors' recovery plans. We want to create a series of content of activities you can do at home to help with stroke recovery.
For example, for someone who has lost mobility of an arm, a great exercise would be to put some dried beans on a table and get each individual bean into a cup. Once they've mastered that, they can pour some grains of rice on a table (they're harder to grab) and get them into a cup.
It's hard to get creative with recovery activities as a survivor - depression and anxiety is prevalent in stroke survivors. We want to be a source of inspiration for these resilient heroes to find what's already in their homes and use it to get better.
Basically, we need a few volunteers to:
- Find videos that already exist and create a database
- Think of items you can use for a specific exercise (for example" "Five things at home you can use to improve shoulder mobility" - a broom stick, a towel, etc.
- Help out with posting regularly to Instagram and Facebook
- Organize a content calendar so we're not scrambling at the last minute
As a volunteer you won't have to do all these things, and you can definitely do more things if you have an idea! There is no minimum amount of time or hours to put in - any help we can get is greatly appreciated.
Volunteers will receive a letter of recommendation from our Director, as well as a spot on our website as a team member/collaborator. If you are a stroke survivor or caregiver of a stroke survivor, we would also love to share your story on our website and social media channels.
No additional volunteer opportunities at this time.

We strive to provide clear, free, scientifically-backed information to all people recovering from a stroke. Through partnerships and community support, The Stroke Foundation will provide articles, videos, and how-to guides, covering all aspects of stroke recovery. The Stroke Foundation aims to be the leading source of stroke recovery information, providing support to all communities in English and Spanish.
We are a brand new organization looking to establish a presence among stroke and stroke recovery nonprofits in the US. We focus on recovery but also talk about stroke prevention and warning signs. Our audiences are stroke survivors and caregivers of stroke survivors, so we develop multi-media content for both audiences. We are looking to grow in terms of social media presence as well as grants in order to carry out specific projects we have to help stroke survivors recover at home as much as they can.
We'll work with your schedule.
This is a Virtual Opportunity, with no fixed address.
