Job brief - Web designer for Reforestation Organisation websites Volunteer position with the potential for further paid work if the campaign is successful.

RAIN are looking for a talented Web Designer to translate our environmental campaigns into amazing user experiences. The ideal candidate should have an eye for clean and artful web design, good user interface design skills and an understanding of trends and requirements within the environmental sector.

Working with branding and identity guides, the successful candidate will be able to translate user and information requirements into seamless interaction flows.

About RAIN:

RAIN (Regenerative Agroforestry Impact Network) is a non-profit CIC catalysing community-led reforestation efforts in the UK and Brazil through international mutual aid and community-led projects. We have a number of projects that integrate environmental action with the arts.

Responsibilities
  • Execute visual design stages from concept to final hand-off to engineering. (Some assistance from interns may be available.)
  • Integrate brand and identity and input from design team, but also creatively filling gaps where necessary.
  • Conceptualize website design ideas that bring simplicity and user-friendliness to complex roadblocks
  • Site integration with third party tools such as mailchimp, donorbox
  • Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and sitemaps to communicate interaction and design ideas
  • Present and explain designs and key deliverables to the management team and stakeholders
  • Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices and standards
Requirements
  • Proven work experience as a Web Designer
  • Demonstrable design skills with a strong portfolio
  • Solid experience in creating wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps
  • Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator or other visual design and wire-framing tools
  • Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction
  • Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively
  • Up-to-date with the latest web trends, techniques and technologies

Ideal:

  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS and JavaScript for rapid prototyping
