Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in need of volunteers to help with fundraising, events and administration. Help us grow and save more animals! Sonflower Ranch Wildlife Rehabilitation Center saves over 150 animals every year and we are growing fast! We need help with many fundraising and administrative tasks-and most of these can be done from home, with regular meetings via zoom or in person at the Center (and we'd also like people to come to the Center to help with events.) If you can help with any of the following, we need you on our team: contacting donors; help with our annual fundraising dinner; other event planning; thank you notes; maintaining records; newsletters; contacting local businesses for donations; administrative assistance; public relations; marketing; social media; website maintenance; community and education outreach. Although we've listed some skills, primarily we are looking for enthusiasm and a willingness to help--prior experience or specific skills not necessary. Be part of a growing organization focused on saving and supporting Colorado's wildlife!

Mission Statement

Sonflower Ranch Wildlife Rehabilitation Center has been organized to operate exclusively for charitable purposes, including, but not limited to the rehabilitation and release of orphaned, injured and sick wildlife, and to provide educational and outreach programs for audiences of all ages regarding rehabilitation, humane solutions to human-wildlife conflicts, and how to help Colorado’s wildlife.

Description

Sonflower Ranch Wildlife Rehabilitation Center (SFRWRC) exists to serve the people and wildlife of Colorado by taking care of orphaned and injured wildlife. We also educate the public on how to peacefully coexist with the wild neighbors we are fortunate to have in Colorado.

Animals come to us from backyards, chimneys, attics, hiking trails, and under porches. We raise orphaned small to medium mammals, such as squirrels and raccoons, have plans to expand to other species as we grow. These animals (who sometimes do not yet have their eyes open) have fallen from a tree or crawled out from a nest looking for food and warmth from mom, who hasn’t come. Generous and caring people hear their cries and bring us cold, hungry and distressed babies, and they hope that we have the resources to take care of them.

We are thrilled when we can say yes and raise those babies to be released back into the wild!

Sonflower Ranch Wildlife Rehabilitation Center was founded in 2016 and the number of animals saved has grown every year. We’ve come a long way-but we want to do even more. The first year animals were rehabilitated in our founder, Keith Gunn’s home. In 2020, we moved to a donated trailer, and we continue to expand. We are raising funds to expand into a 3200 square foot rehabilitation center (under construction) set to be fitted with multiple rehabilitation areas and two operating/procedural areas. This will enable us to save even more animals and further serve the people and wildlife of Colorado.
