Girls on the Run is the social-emotional program for girls that teaches confidence, compassion, and critical thinking. We are looking for enthusiastic coaches to coach small, IN-PERSON teams of younger girls (3rd-5th grades) at various sites in Santa Clara County -- specifically, MOUNTAIN VIEW, SUNNYVALE, and LOS ALTOS. We provide all training, curriculum, and supplies so you can focus on having fun with your team.
What it takes to be a coach (requirements and responsibilities):
- Interest in being a role model and mentor to girls and living a healthy lifestyle
- Complete online training modules that will prepare you to successfully lead lessons
- Commitment to attend and lead twice-weekly, IN-PERSON lessons for 8 weeks (90 minutes each)
- Agree to LiveScan background check and 2 personal references; be over the age of 18
We need coaches for these teams:
Mountain View @ Cooper Park
Mon/Wed at 3:00 -4:30 pm
Dates: Either March-May OR April-June (depending on your availability)
Sunnyvale @ La Palmas Park
Tues/Thur at 3:00-4:30 pm
Dates: Either March-May OR April-June (depending on your availability)
Los Altos @ Rosita Park
Tues/Thur at 3:30-5:00 pm
Dates: Either March-May OR April-June (depending on your availability)
The health and safety of our coaches and participants is our top priority. We have modified our spring programs to include these COVID-19 safety measures:
- In-person teams have the flexibility to transition to virtual programming, if needed
- Teams of 6-12 girls to maintain stable cohorts
- Everyone must wear masks and maintain social distancing
- Hand sanitizer and space-delineating tools for each team
- Personal bags of materials (journals, markers) for each participant
- GOTR provides all training, curricula, and materials for a successful season

Our proven, research-based curriculum creatively uses running as a tool to teach life skills that increase confidence, critical-thinking, and conflict-resolution skills.
Description
Girls on the Run of Silicon Valley (GOTRSV) was founded in 2002, the first Girls on the Run council in California. Over the past 19 years, GOTRSV has impacted more than 20,000 girls in Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties.
The Girls on the Run curriculum is one of only three after-school programs recognized by the Harvard Graduate School of Education as a top social-emotional learning (SEL) experience for kids.
