Requirements/Duties of a Coach: Girls on the Run teams will meet after school for 90 minutes 2x each week for 8 weeks, March 14 through May 21. Coaches lead small, closed groups of girls (3rd-8th grades) through an easy-to-use curriculum and supervise/participate in activities that teach life skills. Coaches must be willing to communicate program information to the participants' parents/caregivers and attend the end-of-season 5K event on May 21. All coaches are required to complete online coach training modules and a 2-hour, in-person training session on January 29. Program sites are at schools in Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, and North Monterey counties. Please visit our website at WWW.GOTRSV.ORG for more information.

Girls on the Run is a fun, social-emotional program that uses movement/running as a tool to teach life skills about managing emotions, standing up for self and others, setting goals, building self-confidence, and so much more! The season consists of 16 lessons led by committed, enthusiastic coaches who help the girls to train to run/walk a 5K (3.1 miles) by the end of the season.

Who can coach?

  • Coach: Anyone 18 years or older (female or male)
  • Junior coach: high school girls, 16-17 years old
  • People of all shapes, sizes, physical abilities
  • You do NOT need to be a runner/athlete, nor have coaching experience
