For the past decade, we have launched young women and minority youth (K-12, college, and beyond) into aviation and STEM careers through hands-on and online apprenticeship training, career readiness programs, and early exposure to the exciting world of aviation. POSITION SUMMARY

We are looking for a driven and dedicated leader to serve as the AeroStar Volunteer Coordinator. This is a volunteer position.

In this role, you will be responsible for recruiting and managing the best people with diverse backgrounds to serve as volunteers in multiple positions and fulfill our mission. You should have experience in identifying the right fit for people and organizations. You should also have a passion for motivating and inspiring others.

The goal is to engage a community of talented volunteers who are interested in helping AeroStar achieve its strategic initiatives.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage AeroStar’s volunteer engagement processes
  • Oversee the volunteer onboarding and offboarding processes
  • Serve as a liaison between volunteers and project managers, instructors, and other AeroStar staff members to match strategic projects with volunteer interests and skillsets
  • Collaborate with the Database Manager to create the volunteers’ profile and document project completion
  • Coordinate teams of volunteers for large-scale events
  • Disseminate information for upcoming actions and events

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Expert knowledge of databases, MS Office, Google Drive (especially Google Forms)
  • Experience in recruiting/talent acquisition
  • Able to communicate effectively
  • Excellent organizational, team leadership, and coordination skills

Description

The AeroStar Avion Institute delivers programs that teach skills necessary to not just participate, but LEAD in the next generation of STEM innovation. Students are immersed in inquiry-based learning, engineering design projects, they operate flight simulators, remote-controlled helicopters, drones, RC airplanes and VR headsets. They also build model airplanes and rockets to specifications. They study and demonstrate extensive knowledge on flight theory, aviation weather, aircraft radio operation, aircraft cockpit instrumentation and STEM careers. We soar above other programs because we provide years of ongoing support to students interested in pursuing pathways in Aviation/STEM.
