You can make a difference in the fight against Alzheimer's and all other dementia by joining the Volunteer Walk Committee for the Walk to End Alzheimer's - Santa Monica!!

Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's (r) is the world's largest fundraiser for Alzheimer's care, support and research. This inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to join the fight against the disease.

Currently, more than 5 million Americans are living with the disease and Alzheimer's is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States. You can make a difference in the fight against Alzheimer's by joining the Volunteer Walk Committee for the Walk to End Alzheimer's - Santa Monica.

Join a group of dedicated volunteers that drive the event's development and growth-- advancing the fight to end Alzheimer's from the ground up. There are many ways to use your interests and skills to advance the cause-- and have fun while doing it! We would love to have YOU join our team!

The committee meets virtually (Zoom) once per month. You can choose to focus on your area(s) of interest or expertise (Sponsorship, Team Recruitment, Team Retention, Marketing & Outreach, Advocacy, Mission and Logistics).

Whether you can spare a few hours or make a significant time commitment, we hope you'll consider joining this special team in the fight to #ENDALZ. For more information, please reach out to Lynzee Halvorson at lahalvorson@alz.org or 949.339.1876.

Together, we will end ALZ.

Mission Statement

To eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health

Description

In 1979, Jerome H. Stone and representatives from several family support groups met with the National Institute on Aging to explore the value of a national, independent, nonprofit organization to complement federal efforts surrounding Alzheimer's disease. That meeting resulted in the April 10, 1980, formation of the Alzheimer's Association with Mr. Stone as founding president.

Today, the Association reaches millions of people affected by Alzheimer’s across the globe through our national office and chapters in communities nationwide. We are the world’s leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care, support and research.
