Literacy Partners -- Menlo Park
Literacy Partners -- Menlo Park is looking for hands-on board members to help direct and implement the philanthropic mission of the nonprofit to offer directed financial support and leadership to partner organizations providing literacy enhancement in the local community. Applicants should be willing to commit approximately 4 to 8 hours monthly to participate in monthly meetings, serve on committees/work teams to ensure that our mission of selecting recipients and nurturing community leadership is realized. Activities are directed through nonprofit or government partnerships actively working in the community. Volunteers should have a mix of grassroots fundraising experience and/or nonprofit management, and/or literacy educations. Board members must be equally comfortable with advising and helping to frame programs and with performing basic tasks required by an organization with no paid staff. Experience volunteering with literacy program(s), teaching or community involvement is highly desired, especially in the local community. Literacy Partners is committed to providing support during the Covid 19 pandemic, and board expertise on providing services during face-to-face meeting restrictions is valuable.

Literacy Partners - Menlo Park (LPMP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting literacy programs and projects through fundraising and community awareness. LPMP is committed through partnerships to help community members enhance their reading, writing and related skills and education to improve their economic, professional and personal wellbeing.
The board of directors of Literacy Partners - Menlo Park (LPMP), formerly known as Project Read - Literacy Partners, adopted new bylaws in May 2020 to be able to support worthy organizations beyond its previous mission restricted to library-based adult and family literacy. The organization partners with local literacy organizations, including StreetCode, The Menlo Park Library, and All Students Matter, to offer financial support for learners of all ages throughout the community.
