Literacy Partners -- Menlo Park is looking for hands-on board members to help direct and implement the philanthropic mission of the nonprofit and to identify and cultivate potential donors. We offer directed financial support and leadership to partner organizations that provide literacy enhancements in the local community. Applicants should be willing to commit approximately 3 to 8 hours monthly to participate in monthly meetings, serve on committees/work teams. Volunteers should have a mix of grassroots fundraising experience and/or nonprofit management, and/or knowledge of local literacy needs. Board members should be able to understand (or quickly learn) local fundraising needs and be able to communicate that to potential donors and to discuss such needs with potential recipients. We would be interested in talking with persons experienced in fundraising or nonprofit administration who are relocating to the greater Menlo Park community. Board members must be comfortable with advising and helping to frame programs and with performing basic tasks required by a small organization with no paid staff.
