The student/tutor coordinator primary duties are: 1) Match and track students and tutors 2) Keep notes of and record begin and end dates of the match 3) As the sessions end or change, reassign students and tutors as necessary.
BECOME a TUTOR - No teaching experience is necessary and English need not be your first language. You will help non-English speaking adults to learn the English language. Our organization will teach you how to be a tutor! We will train you, match you to a student and help you get started with your one-on-one tutoring. We ask that you commit one or two hours per week -- all meetings are arranged by you and your student at a time most convenient for both of you. Through your tutoring you may help an adult student to get a better job, apply for citizenship, read to their children....there are so many possibilities!
Diablo Valley Literacy Council holds two workshops per year at the Good Lutheran Shepherd Church on Clayton Road. The workshops are held the spring and fall and open enrollment year around.
A small registration fee will help cover the cost of the workshop and training materials.
