On Saturday, March 6th, Be The Match, the Hudson Valley Renegades, and the Icla da Silva Foundation are partnering together to host a COVID-safe, marrow registration drive-thru event to help children and adult fighting blood cancers and blood diseases. Volunteers will assist participants through the drive-thru registration process. Volunteer stations:
Zone 1: Traffic Control Station-volunteers at the entrance and along the street to wave signs and direct traffic into the event.
Zone 2: Greeters Station- greeters pass out flyers/goody bags near the entrance as cars come in. They instruct how to use the QR code or text-to-join, and then direct them where to park.
Zone 3: Swab Stars-When participants have parked and registered, they honk their horn to alert volunteers they are ready to swab. Swab stars deliver swabs to the car and give brief instruction. They also show them where to exit and drop off their swabs. Signs are posted in front of parking spaces with directions for the participant.
All precautions will be taken to ensure the safety of volunteers and participants: PPE will be provided, Volunteers and participants will be screened for COVID, Contact between all attendees will be kept a minimum.
COVID-19 has severely impacted the number of new people registering for the Be The Match Registry. Time is not an ally to people searching for a blood stem cell or marrow transplant. Any new person who registers as a potential life-saving donor offers hope to thousands of patients and their families.

The mission of the Icla da Silva Foundation is to save lives by recruiting bone marrow donors and by providing support services to children and adults with leukemia and other diseases treatable by marrow transplants.
The Icla da Silva Foundation was established in June of 1992, as a nonprofit organization under section 501(c) 3 of the IRS Code.
The organization honors the life of a thirteen-year-old Brazilian girl who passed away after bravely fighting leukemia and despite all her family, friends and neighbors efforts in finding her a matching donor.
Icla's last wishes, enthusiasm and everlasting hope deeply inspire the Icla da Silva Foundation's programs and activities. In the last 20 years the Foundation has grown to become one of the largest recruitment organization for the National Marrow Donor Program
