Foster2Foster provides peer-to-peer mentoring to current foster/probation youth ages 12 and up from former foster/probation youth (or those with adverse childhood experiences) to make a positive impact on their lives.
Children in foster care face many challenges, but the greatest life challenge is for those youth who do not return to their family or get adopted, ending up aging out of foster care with little or no support. Traumatic adverse childhood experiences often leave severe emotional scars which in turn, affect a youth’s development.
Due to the lack of life long permanent connection with a caring adult, foster youth are less likely to talk about their past traumas or current stressors allowing the impact of past traumas to consume them, which is why providing stable, loving individuals are essential to the success of youth in care
