Description:
The Research & Content Coordinator will provide practical support to HRC's audience of nonviolent activists and human rights defenders. The Coordinator will oversee content curation for our resource library of human rights organizations, law resources and nonviolent action tools. This will involve creating targeted content research strategies, performing research and uploading resources to our Wordpress database.
The Coordinator will also moderate user engagement with the library and handle requests for assistance. This will involve monitoring and replying to comments, uploading resource submissions and processing user feedback. They will undertake research as needed to resolve requests and troubleshoot reported errors with the library. The Coordinator will work closely with the Research Associate on the above responsibility areas.
As with all of our positions, this role is volunteer-based and unpaid. Candidates must be able to work independently, take initiative and pursue creative approaches to problem solving.
Responsibilities:

  1. Curate practical human rights and civil resistance resources for the Organizations Index, Law Library and Activist Toolkit within the HRC resource library.
  2. Upload 5-10 new resources (on average) to the resource library on a weekly basis.
  3. With the Research Associate, develop and implement strategic content-building efforts for the library, including setting benchmarks and monitoring progress.
  4. Manage user engagement with the Human Rights Connected resource library by replying to user comments, uploading submitted resources, and responding to requests for assistance.
  5. Provide ad hoc research support for requests for assistance from rights defenders in the field.
  6. Incorporate feedback from website users, HRC team members and other relevant sources into our content curation strategy.
  7. Monitor relevant news developments and curate relevant resources that could provide practical support for ongoing human rights struggles.
  8. Oversee quality assurance of our resource library, including troubleshooting errors and quality checks.
  9. Provide research assistance and expertise to other HRC team members as needed.
  10. Attend HRC’s general and research team meetings and present content-related updates.
  11. Other activities and tasks as agreed upon with the Research Associate.
Qualifications:
  • Strong experience or background in human rights, nonviolent action and/or grassroots organizing required
  • Excellent qualitative research and analytical skills required
  • Excellent project coordination, written communication, and organizational skills required
  • Ability to perform a wide range of research and synthesize findings in an accessible way using plain language required
  • Ability to work remotely and independently in a networked organization required
  • Proven commitment to equity and inclusion of all marginalized groups with an intersectional lens required
  • English proficiency required; additional language ability a plus
  • Website or database administration experience preferred. Wordpress proficiency a plus
  • Experience using Asana or other task management platforms a plus
  • Experience using Google Analytics or other analytics software a plus
