Spanish/English Language Exchange

EMO- HIV Services

We are seeking a fluent/native Spanish speaker who is interested in faciliating a Spanish language exchange/intercambio on Tuesday mornings at our drop-in day center that serves low income and homeless individuals living with HIV/AIDS. This volunteer position would be in collaboration with our MSW intern and is for the purpose of building community and language proficiency among our Spanish and non-Spanish speaking clients. Some tasks/responsibilities would include:

- Creating specific vocabulary/language lists for clients to use
- Fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for language learning
- Assisting clients in reading through documents
- Having fun!

Description

The HIV Services program operates a Day Center which offers a place of care, respect, and support for people infected and affected by HIV and AIDS. The Center provides nutritious meals on-site daily, as well as counseling and a variety of critical support services. HIV Services also provides high quality home-delivered meals to homebound clients through our Daily Bread Express (DBX) program.
