Are you detail-oriented and available for a few hours each week? Then we have the perfect opportunity for you!

The American Red Cross is in need of a Biomedical Warehouse Administrative Volunteer. You will provide administrative office support to our blood services departments.

Location

Philadelphia Spring Garden Street Blood Donor Center

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general office administrative functions
  • Draft and audit letters, memos, reports, labels, data entry, etc.
  • Answer phones and emails, take messages, greet and direct customers
  • Assist in scheduling, booking, and communicating
  • File, photocopy, collate, and fax
  • Prepare and distribute packets and mailings
  • Maintain excellent organization and presentation of work area
  • May supervise groups or individual clerical volunteers
  • Ability to sort and distribute incoming as well as outgoing mail and packages
  • Ordering and stocking office supplies

Qualifications

  • Adaptability to accept direction and work independently and as part of a team
  • Professional, clear, and diplomatic communication skills
  • Computer skills required (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel,Power Point)
  • Ability to sort and distribute incoming as well as outgoing mail and packages
  • Ordering and stocking office supplies
  • Excellent organizational and customer service skills
  • Ability to use standard office equipment such as copy machine, fax machine, phone
  • General knowledge of computers and software such as Word, Excel, and Outlook and web-based programs
  • Attention to detail with the ability to spot errors

Time Commitment

1-2 hours per week on either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday between 9am-3pm

Length of Appointment

Ongoing, ideally a minimum of 3 months.

Training

All training is provided by The American Red Cross, and includes:

  • Orientation to the American Red Cross
  • On-the-job training
  • Ongoing updates
