Event Description:
Join Parks staff in removing trash along Walnut Creek Trail near Apollo Heights. Help keep our greenway clean and beautiful at this cleanup!
Duties:
Volunteers will help remove litter from Walnut Creek Trail with trash bags and pickup sticks.
Impact:
By removing litter, we can help provide a healthier environment for wildlife and citizens to enjoy.
Work Environment:
All volunteer work will working outside on uneven terrain. We will be working in the elements. There will be up to a mile of walking. There is not a restroom on site.
Volunteer Requirements:
Pre-registration is required. Volunteers must be at least 14 years old. Volunteers under 16 years of age must have a parent/guardian present - they must register as well. Everyone who volunteers must sign a release form. If anyone is under the age of 18, then a parent or guardian must sign their form as well.
Other Instructions:
Please wear sturdy close-toed shoes and clothing that can get dirty. We will supply tools, gloves, bug spray, a first-aid kit, and sunscreen. Please bring your own filled water bottle.
COVID-19 Policy:
Volunteers and staff must follow the COVID-19 policies below so that projects are safe for everyone.
Group Registration Information:
Registration as a volunteer is first come, first served. A group leader must email rachel.vannoordt@raleighnc.gov to register. All groups will be required to provide a list of names and emails for their volunteers.
Per department policy, this volunteer opportunity is not to be used towards court-appointed/ suggested community service hours.
