As we continue to prioritize the health and safety of all involved, we have decided to keep all 2021 Walk to Defeat ALS events on one day with one goal - to Create a World Without ALS! We need you to join superheroes across North Carolina to host a local mini-Walk in your community on Sat, June 26 to support effective treatments and a cure for ALS. "Walk Your Way" means individuals and teams can Walk, run, climb, hike, canoe, picnic, caravan, ride, grill, play, perform, golf, fish, dance... whatever you do best to Defeat ALS!

In 2020, our participants used their superpowers for good to ensure the NC Chapter had no interruption of programs and services for people living with ALS across North Carolina and continued to fund to all NC ALS clinics and global research. Together, we raised more than $800,000!

While we miss seeing your faces at our large, in-person gatherings more than ever, we must make this year’s Walk Your Way to Defeat ALS on Sat, June 26, 2021 an even greater success! COVID-19 has been very isolating for so many of us, and perhaps more so for many families struggling with ALS. We urgently need your support as the Walk to Defeat ALS accounts for more than half of the NC Chapter’s operating budget. It’s how we continue to provide vital financial grants, durable medical equipment loan program, support groups, and so much more for 800+ people living with ALS and their families every year.

Just like in 2020, we want to see and hear your passion virtually and will provide new resources and ideas to Team Captains to make your mini-Walks amazing. We are planning fun contests, online events, supply deliveries, and day-of programing that will be broadcast online to make this a unifying experience for all participants. We are excited to connect teams and individuals with others in their community who are participating in Walk Your Way to Defeat ALS too!

Mission Statement

To discover treatments and a cure for ALS, and to serve, advocate for, and empower people affected by ALS to live their lives to the fullest.

Description

The ALS Association is the only national not-for-profit health organization dedicated solely to the fight against ALS. ALSA covers all the bases -- research, patient and community services, public education, and advocacy -- in providing help and hope to those facing the disease.

The ALS Association (National Office and the North Carolina Chapter) operates under a shared mission: To discover treatments and a cure for ALS, and to serve, advocate for, and empower people affected by ALS to live their lives to the fullest.

We work together to accomplish our mission. The ALS Association North Carolina Chapter focuses primarily on helping local patients and families live with ALS while the National Office focuses primarily on research and advocacy. The Chapter supports the National Office through revenue sharing and research contributions. The National Office supports the Chapters by providing up-to-date information and materials.

Our accomplishments are made possible by the generosity of others. From the smallest donation to the largest gift, donors touch the ALS community with hope for the future.
