Looking for a cozy way to volunteer from home during these crazy winter storms? How about reading a story aloud for our students in Mali?
Join Mali Rising staff & other volunteers interested in volunteering for our Read to Mali Campaign on Zoom on Thursday, February 18. We’ll talk about why your story-reading skills are needed, what kinds of books/poems to tackle, how to record and submit your story, and more.

Mission Statement
Mali Rising Foundation envisions a quality middle school education within walking distance for every child in Mali’s rural villages. We focus on middle school education as a key but weak link in the opportunities for Mali’s children to build better, healthier lives and communities. Our mission is to empower the children of Mali, West Africa by expanding and improving educational opportunities for them within their own villages. We see this education empowering children to go on to futures that improve their own lives, but also the fate of their villages and of Mali as a whole.
Description
All of our work is done in long-term partnership with small, rural villages in southern Mali. Our work focuses on three program areas. We provide children in rural villages with access to:
1) School: We build safe, sustainable schools and provide on-going partnerships for maintenance.
2) Learning: We strengthen our schools’ abilities to deliver high quality education to students.
3) Inspiration: We help our students pursue their vocational and educational futures, whatever they may be.

- The Volunteer evening is just 1 hour long. We anticipate a volunteer will need to spend 2 hours or less recording 1 story...and you can do as many as you like!
- The ability to read aloud clearly and slowly. The ability to video yourself using your phone, Zoom, or other means.
