ORGANIZATION: CENTER OF HELP INC

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 8 people are interested

The Maria de la Paz Youth Outreach Center aims to provide a safe space for immigrant youth (middle and high school) to engage in social, emotional, and academic activities, build community with their peers, and develop conflict resolution skills, personal responsibility, and confidence in their abilities.
Volunteers have the opportunity to work directly with youth ages 12 to 17 from adverse backgrounds as a tutor, mentor, and/or assistant teacher, and ideally volunteer on a regular schedule, at least 30 min per week between the hours of 3:30 and 6:00 pm Monday through Friday, and 12:00 to 5:00. The current schedule is hybrid, with in-person activities M/W/F and online T/Th, though we will begin to have larger groups and more in-person programming.

Our daily activities include art, homework help, math tutoring, STEM activities, financial literacy and career readiness activities, community building (community circle), conflict resolution classes, and more.

This opportunity counts towards community service hours. We ask that you volunteer for a minimum of 1 month. A background check is required for volunteers over 18.
