Need help to complete an Abandoned Cemetery project that I started on in 2018. I need to get all wood and sticks raked up for mowing and will soon place Cross markers for the 100 unidentified people from Gainesville who were moved there.
The Cemetery is on about 1.5 - 2 acres of land and since it is outdoors, social distancing won't be a problem. I could put two people on opposite ends of the sides of the property line to rake sticks or cut brush from the ground and rake it into the closest pile to be burned at another time. I also need help planting shade tress. I can communicate what needs to be done from a safe distance and each person available can bring their own vehicle. This Cemetery hasn't been active since the 60's. When Stennis was built, the people in the Gainesville Cemetery on site were moved to Spring Branch Church Cemetery and others were moved where their family requested them to be moved including the founder of Gainesville. The church had to be torn down or relocated. No one took responsibility of the Cemetery since then. Locals are very happy that work is being done on it.

Mission Statement
I am on a mission to restore an abandoned yet very historical Cemetery. My goal for the last 3 years is to clear the ground up so I can approach the County Board about maintaining this Cemetery that is no longer active after the Church was torn down to make way for the Test Site at Stennis Space Center. 's. Upon discovery, I saw that the entrance into the woods for the Cemetery had become a trash dumping ground and headstones had been knocked down. I was able to get some Navy volunteers to help jump start clearing it up. I need volunteers to help finish it. Locals are very happy to see the work that has been done and many never knew it existed. I could use some help with completing this project. Description
In 2018 I discovered a historic abandoned Cemetery and hope to complete it by Summer. The Historical Society has printed an article about it in their newsletter to help bring in volunteers to help me clean it up and I have permission to do anything necessary to clear it up from the Historical Society and from the County as well as relatives of some of the people buried there. The Historical Societyis notmy organization and I am not a member but a volunteer which falls under their Preservation of history goal. I did just start a business called Saving Graves, LLC but this is separate from this Cemetery. I have some raking, brush cutting and will need help putting 100 crosses down for the 100 unidentified people who were moved from the Gainesville Cemetery to Spring Branch. Their markers are buried, destroyed or stolen. We have found several buried headstones and slabs and still have more to recover. I could use some help completing this project. Thank you!

- I hope to have the Cemetery renovation completed before summer gets here. I will be happy with whatever time spent on this project I can get. It can be done on the volunteers own time after meeting up initially to go over what needs to be done.
