ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross Central California Region

DAT

Do you have a passion to support your community? Do you like creating and managing relationships? Are you looking for an impactful volunteer role that you can do remotely? Consider joining the Red Cross Emergency Management Team!

The American Red Cross is seeking volunteers to develop community partnerships, building our local capacity for a large-scale disaster response. Before a disaster strikes, the Red Cross needs to have partnerships created for various response functions (i.e. providing meals, providing volunteers, providing shelters to disaster clients). We are seeking members who can work in their local community to establish and build partnerships with various organizations including businesses, government agencies, other nonprofits, etc.

Our Emergency Management Territory Coordinator collaborates with partners to develop and implement strategies to enable an effective and efficient community response during a disaster while adhering to the principles of the Red Cross. Volunteers will work directly with our Disaster Program Manager to foster relationships with local fire departments, sharing the resources and planning around local, small and large scale disaster responses, as well as on-going Preparedness efforts, such as Free Smoke Alarm installations and home fire education.

Volunteers in this role will attend in-person and virtual meetings, correspond regularly with local Fire Department contacts, and support our volunteer teams in the Disaster Program territory.

Red Cross will provide volunteers training on our programs and resources, no previous experience needed. Just bring your passion for relationship building and community outreach!

Qualifications:

Potential Candidates should have the ability to build and lead a team using a collaborative leadership style and demonstrating traits of honesty, forward looking, competence, intelligence and compassion.

This position will envision a team’s impact on Emergency Management relationships and inspire the team into action. They will ensure the team understands how they fit into the larger DCS structure and how their actions can positively influence and support the DCS Program as a whole.
