  • No physical examination.
  • No swimming requirement.
Auxiliary health care professionals include physicians, dentists, physician assistants (PA), nurse practitioners (NPs), and podiatrists. These health care professionals are authorized to volunteer in Coast Guard clinics or sickbays within guidelines and restrictions established by this Instruction. Other categories of health care professionals will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

The US Coast Guard Auxiliary is the civilian uniformed volunteer component of the US Coast Guard (USCG). Since 1939, the Auxiliary has supported all USCG missions on the water and in the air EXCEPT direct law enforcement and military engagement.
