Do you want to take action to save wildlife and wild places but don't know where to start? Join the Volunteer team for our 2021 season. We have a variety of opportunities with a variety of needs and all have an impact on our mission! We have openings available for:

  • Individuals or Groups
  • One time or a regular commitment
  • Early morning through late night hours available
  • Set schedules or pick up shifts when it works for you
  • Onsite and offsite tasks
Areas that have volunteer opportunities include Experiences, Admissions, Food Service, Gift Shop, Events, Animal Care, Education, Administration, and Conservation. Opportunities are filled on a rolling basis and are dependent on the operating calendar for the area, so not all are available at all times of the year.

Donating your time with John Ball Zoo helps the zoo achieve its mission to inspire our community to be actively engaged in the conservation of wildlife and our natural environment. Helping the team maintain high standards of excellence, and providing the best day ever increases positive guest experiences helping to inspire action to save wildlife and wild places!

John Ball Zoo inspires people to be active participants in the conservation of wildlife and our natural environment.

Description

We are the oldest zoo in Michigan, located in Grand Rapids. Currently our collection includes about 270 species and about 1,500 individual animals. We have approxiamtely 500,000 visitors annually.

  • We have one time opportunities and long term opportunities.
