Food Pantry Volunteer--St. Vincent DePaul Center

Save to Favorites

Marillac St. Vincent Family Services

We are seeking 1-2 volunteers who can ideally make an ongoing, weekly or bi-weekly commitment at our St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry in Lincoln Park. This is a minimal- to non-client facing opportunity. Volunteers assist with preparing customized bags/boxes of food for clients based on a personal shopping list completed at intake. Volunteers may also be asked to perform duties such as restocking shelves, rotating stock, sorting damaged items from usable ones, assist with deliveries and organizing items, breaking down boxes, and other tasks as determined by pantry/Outreach staff.

Volunteers should be able to stand/be on their feet for 2-3 hours at a time, lift/carry at least 15-20 lbs., reach at/above shoulder height, bend/reach from the waist. We are looking for people who enjoy being part of a team, collaborating, have a "customer service" attitude, respect the dignity of those in vulnerable or insecure positions, and will support our mission to strengthen, empower and give voice to those in need.
