Want to make a difference?
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, there’re even more isolated, elderly New Yorkers than usual in need of a little social interaction. Whether it’s more your style to craft handmade cards to be delivered alongside meals or other food packages or write letters in response to the thank yous and/or stories people send after receiving assistance, YOU can make a difference! Even the smallest of gestures can remind these individuals they haven’t been forgotten. Both can be done from anywhere.

Mission Statement
AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP in New York City was started in 1966 by the Community Service Society (CSS), an over 170-year-old nonprofit agency. CSS's mission is to identify problems which create a permanent poverty class in New York City, and to advocate the systemic changes required to eliminate such problems. CSS will focus on enabling, empowering and promoting opportunities for poor families and individuals to develop their full potential, to contribute to society, and to realize social, economic, and political opportunities.
Description
AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP in New York City matches adults 55 and older with meaningful volunteer opportunities at New York City nonprofits. With more than 2,300 volunteers, our program is one of the largest senior volunteer programs in the nation. There are over 600 of us which operate nationally and many that do so internationally. We match volunteers on the basis of interests and abilities, community needs, geographic convenience, and experience.
