Games for Love is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that works to ease suffering, save lives, and create sustainable futures for children. We believe in the concept of "distraction therapy" and bring the joy of gaming into the lives of our junior gamers in hospitals around the country. We plan to help 10 million kids in the next 5 years. We have a healthy ecosystem to achieve that goal with your intelligent contribution.

We are seeking a Volunteer Game Development Team Lead who is a creative leader with proven game development experience to join our Alexa-Skill Community Game Project: Shield, Spell, or Sword, a rock, paper, & scissors fantasy adventure (https://gamesforlove.org/games/shieldspellsword/). You would be responsible for the next iteration, focused on premium monetization.

Alexa project-specific skills needed:

1. Familiar with Alexa Skills kit console and Alexa based jargon(ex: Interaction model, Intents, Utterances)
2. Familiar with Voice Design best practices and VUI design
3. Familiar with AWS services such as Lambda, and SES and how to read and implement documentation relating to the service
4. Developed and deployed an Alexa Skill (Nice to have)
5. Alexa Skills Kit CLI knowledge (Nice to have)

Responsibilities:

1. Lead game development projects in the execution of project vision and go-to-market strategy
2. Take ownership of day-to-day operations and cross-functional needs for a full-stack, distinct game development team
3. Provides task level direction and oversight of the project’s team of designers, developers, and QA
4. Drives overall product quality and test planning
5. Define and implement key performance metrics and feedback process
6. Identify roadblocks and provide solutions to mitigate risks
7. Assesses the business value of feature requests, product, and technical requirements then prioritize work according to the value assessment
8. Work closely with business stakeholders, producers, and discipline leads on upcoming releases and roadmaps to maintain alignment and expectations
9. Lead monthly product demos and go-to-market planning
10. Communicate effectively with teams across multiple functions such as product, marketing, development, creative, content, customer service, QA, and more
11. Create processes, guidelines, and templates that can help the development team to improve the quality of work

Requirements:

1. Able to donate approx.10 hrs. a week for a minimum of 1 year
2. Passion for video games
3. Game development and/or design experience
4. 2+ years experience leading development teams/projects
5. Demonstrated self-starter who, given a set of constraints and objectives, with minimal oversight
6. Experience proactively driving a development project from concept to go-to-market
7. Experience implementing processes and tools for efficiency gains
8. Familiar with some type of version control (Git, bitbucket, GitHub)
9. Basic understanding of good code architecture practices
10. International or global/virtual project or program management experience
