ORGANIZATION: Friends of the Hilton Head Library

  • 1 person is interested

The Friends of the Hilton Head Library (FOL) was organized in 1971 as a non-profit organization to promote literacy and encourage the pursuit of life long learning through the use of the library resources.

We raise funds to help the Hilton Head Library be the first-rate public service our community values expect. The Friends buy books, equipment and supplies that are not covered by County and State funding; we sponsor events and speakers that are interesting to our community, and we sponsor children's reading programs, as well as many other learning and growth opportunities for both kids and adults. The bulk of our funding comes from membership contributions and the proceeds from our Friends' Bookshop located as you enter the lobby of the library.

The Bookstore Coordinator is responsible for the overall management of the Friends Bookstore, located in the lobby of the Hilton Head Library. This includes coordinating staffing among the volunteers, handling the intake of book donations, depositing the sales revenue on a weekly basis, dealing with any operational issues, attend the monthly meetings of the Friends Board of Directors.
