Want to make a difference?
Are you fluent in a language other than English? Are you always looking for opportunities to practice and/or sharpen your skills? Or perhaps you specifically would like to help those who do not speak English well or at all, or otherwise to simply contribute to anyone in need in any way you can? Regardless of your situation, AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP currently has a handful of remote translation assignments that may be of interest to you, including one with an immigrant organization (looking for speakers of Russian, Ukrainian, Dari, Pashto, Spanish, and French) and another with an environmental organization (looking principally for bilingual speakers of Mandarin, Cantonese, and Spanish).

Mission Statement
AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP in New York City was started in 1966 by the Community Service Society (CSS), an over 170-year-old nonprofit agency. CSS's mission is to identify problems which create a permanent poverty class in New York City, and to advocate the systemic changes required to eliminate such problems. CSS will focus on enabling, empowering and promoting opportunities for poor families and individuals to develop their full potential, to contribute to society, and to realize social, economic, and political opportunities.
Description
AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP in New York City matches adults 55 and older with meaningful volunteer opportunities at New York City nonprofits. With more than 2,300 volunteers, our program is one of the largest senior volunteer programs in the nation. There are over 600 of us which operate nationally and many that do so internationally. We match volunteers on the basis of interests and abilities, community needs, geographic convenience, and experience.
